“It’s important to get employees excited about work so the company can grow and prosper…†It’s the same thing to a Toastmasters Club. “It’s important to get club members excited about Toastmasters movement so the club and members can grow and prosper together…â€
I have learnt that a good leader should possess the traits of vision, passion, determination, challenge, dedication, persistence… To me, these are the common traits that a leader should have. In other words, a leader must possess these traits, if not, he can’t be considered as a leader. What differentiates a good leader and a common leader is whether he possesses skills of motivating his team. If you have worked with a leader who can motivate, you will feel that you are always at a high energy state. This kind of high energy state will make you feel excited and energized to execute whatever plans on your hand.
I want to be a leader who can motivate. I’m practising my skills now in my Toastmasters Club. I will start from myself by setting myself as a role model, to use my action to inspire my members. As everybody knows, I’m just an ordinary man with no special talents. But, I love to learn. And I don’t mind investing my time or money to gain certain knowledge.
Other than setting myself as a role model, I tried to make some changes in the club. I have learnt that if you could see your own improvement; that improvement could serve as a drive for you to keep moving. That’s the reason why I wanted my club to have a website. The website contains a link to OUR VOICE, where the audio/ video clips of the member’s presentations are uploaded.
I have also learnt that staying only in our own club; the learning curve may not be tremendously improved. We have to go outside to learn from great people. I strongly encourage them to go out to see the outside world. It would be the best if they have a chance to speak outside the club.
I treat The Frontier Toastmasters Club as a training ground for me to mold myself as a good leader. I don’t know how long time does it take for me to be molded, but I certainly sure that I will be a good leader in the future…

I can’t agree with you more!
Motivative is also the key trait that I believe to leaders.
I happened to write something about leadership several days ago, see it here:
