If there is an opportunity for you to be a leader whether in your company, your community centre or your leisure club, will you accept the offer? Most of the people will try to avoid and choose not to accept the offer. Either they feel that they are not capable enough to be a leader or they just don’t want to sacrifice their time to be a leader.
If I were you I will accept it! Why? You will have a lot of chances to learn the skills which allow you to survive in this highly competitive century. Let me share with you the FIVE advantages of being a leader.
Advantage #1 – Mastering time management skills
Being a leader you have to be multi-tasking. You will be doing planning for your jobs, over-seeing the progress of on-going plans, and reviewing the performance of people working under you. You have to allocate your time properly to each task so that the whole plan can be executed smoothly.
Advantage #2 – Understanding human management skills
One-man-show can no longer survive in an organization. You have to learn to leverage your time by assigning the correct job to a correct person. At the same time, plan some activities that can help to improve the person who works under you.
Advantage #3 – Honing your communication skills
Miscommunication is always the problem facing in an organization. A lot of time, miscommunication leads to unnecessary waste of time and resources. Being a leader, you have to make sure that you convey our message clearly to your people.
Advantage #4 – Outperforming yourself
You know that you are the key person in your organization. There are a lot of tasks that you still have to depend on yourself. If you were a leader, you have no choice but just to keep on improving yourself in one way or another to lead your team to the journey of success. This will push you to achieve the highest limit of yourself.
Advantage #5 – Becoming better and better
You will only become better and better if you keep on being a leader.
By looking at these advantages, you should have no more excuse for not taking the opportunity to be a leader. Throw away all your worries and just take up the opportunity. Keep on learning throughout the leadership process and be a Good Leader!
