Happy New Year 2008 in Taipei

 | Author:yowkia |  |

Happy New Year 2008! It’s a late greeting though…

Wow, it’s been a long time since I last blogged. Look at the last blog entry, it was written on last year. Now it’s already year 2008! Where had I been for the past 12 days…
I went back to Malaysia from 22-Dec to 25-Dec. Initially, there was a plan to Batam for business trip from 26-Dec to 27-Dec, but it was cancelled at very last minute. Then, from 29-Dec to 3-Jan, I was in Taipei…

Ya, I was supposed to blog when I came back from 4-Jan to 6-Jan… But I didn’t. My heart was still in Taipei. It took me 3 days to ship back my heart. Occasionally, I still immersed myself in the Taipei Happy Scenes… The scenery, the pub, the food, the weather, the Taipei 101 tower, the SPECIAL massage, the night market… Wow… It was a fantastic trip! Since I came back from Taipei, I was too busy unpacking my luggage and cleaning my room. It’s a new year, I wanted a new start! Yesterday, I spent a whole day to arrange the photos that I took in Taipei, and edit the video. I have created a 20-minute video for my colleagues. Forgot to tell you, the Taipei trip was a company trip. I went there with my colleagues. I truly enjoyed the video that I’ve created. There was so much sweet memory in the video. Sorry, I can’t show you all. However, I have prepared a short video clip on Taipei 101 countdown. I was told that year 2007 was the last time firework in Taipei 101 building due to some safety issues. Next year onwards, there will be no firework in Taipei 101 building…

I think I have got addicted to traveling. After I came back from Taipei, I was planning when my next trip is. I want to go to China with my parents, Hong Kong with my friends, Australia with my friend… When I went traveling, I tried not to check my emails, not to blog… I don’t mean that I don’t like to blog, but when I went traveling I had to treasure every single moment in oversea. I slept lesser because I didn’t want to waste my time in sleeping. I walked from the morning to midnight.

I wish I’m a multi-millionaire now… Traveling around the world…

Look at this video; it’s the SPECIAL massage (Dao Liao in Taiwan language, Dao = Knife, Liao = Treatment) that I mentioned above. How special it was? Two persons used choppers to chop me!!! It looked terrific, but it’s not! I tried it two times and it cost only NT220 for 20 minutes.

There were a few things that left me deep impression in Taiwan:
1) Jokes in the toilet
There were some toilets that I went to, there was a Joke article pasted just in front of me. While you are doing your BUSINESS, you can enjoy your moment to read the joke. I thought it’s quite a creative idea. But, it might be quite strange if you heard someone laughing at your next door. Haha…

2) Lucky draw receipt
There is a number printed on the purchase receipt. Every two months, there will be a lucky draw. If you strike your number, you will get cash prize. You might end up earning money while spending…

3) Priority seat
There are two priority seats in each cubicle of the train. These priority seats are meant for needy people. Normally, normal people will not sit on the priority seats, so the needy people will know where to get their seats.

I met a lot of ABC in Taiwan; they really spoke good and fluent English. ABC stands for American Born Chinese. But still, majority of Taiwanese can only write good English. According to my Taiwanese friend who is taking major in English, she told me that most of them don’t dare to speak English, including herself. I told her about Toastmasters Club and hopefully she will join one in Taipei. Ya… I regret that I didn’t visit a Taipei Club during my trip… Too bad… Never mind, I will have chance in the future.

New Year resolution… I have too many plans for this year. I haven’t written them down yet, but these few days I always thought about my goals for this year. Next month, there will be a speech competition. I think I better start drafting my speech from today.

What did that prove? The world is so small! I met one of my Singapore friends in Shi Lin night market! Anyway, thanks for visiting this website. I think you should be able to give me valuable comments on public speaking as you were always the champion during school days. Now, I aspire to be a great speaker… Remember to come by more often! Thanks again…
