Today morning, I was still puzzled on what topic to choose for my international speech contest. At last, I have decided the title called “It really doesn’t matter”.
I used the 7-P (Purpose, Points, Proof, Power, Passion, Perimeter, Practice) concept that shared by Paul Evans in his E-Book “Instant Speaking Success“.
For the first 5-P, they are processes to draft a powerful speech. For the last 2-P, they deal with the speech delivery.
First of all, I thought of what is the purpose of my speech. Why do I want to tell the audience about this message - “It really doesn’t matter”. I found that in our daily life, a lot of things bothered us. Sometimes, it might be a tiny thing. I used to be bothered by a TINY THING… However, now, that TINY THING doesn’t bother me anymore.
I listed out some occasions and examples on how this TINY THING bothered me. Followed by that, how I convinced myself that it really doesn’t matter to live with this TINY THING. Also, I showed a few examples of TINY THING that bothered us in our life. Subsequently, I brought out a character, who is a very successful guy who can survive with HUGE THING that used to bother him a lot.
At last, I concluded that the way I interpreted the message of the TINY THING into a positive message.
Within 2 hours, I’ve completed my first version of “It really doesn’t matter”. It’s actually not so difficult to get a speech done if you have a certain guidelines to follow. So far, I find that the investment that I’ve made to the E-book “Instant Speaking Success” is very worthy.
Not only Paul Evans shared his insightful thoughts about how to draft a powerful speech. He also shared different kind of openings for a speech. I used to be taught that “asking question” is the easiest and yet powerful speech opening. However, this time round, I want to try something different, I will start my opening with my personal joke.
If you always get stuck in speech preparation, “Instant Speaking Success” may be a right choice for you.
