Yow Kia
I used to love sports when I was young. I was a badminton school player for my primary school and high school. In university, the amount of time that I spent in sports was very little as almost all of my time was spent in studies and symphonic band activities. Don’t mention about my life after graduation, I hardly exercised. One of the reasons was due to my laziness. To play sport, I had to travel from my house to another place, and I was just too lazy to do so. This is exactly the epitome of new-age people. We only focus on work but spend no time in exercise or give excuses for not exercising.
Now, most of my time is spent in Toastmasters, reading books, blogging, salsa dancing and chilling out with my friends. Sports? No, no, no…No Time? No, it’s just that I didn’t allocate time for exercising. Once in a blue moon, I played basketball or jogging. I think I really need to do something to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Perhaps, to have a jog every morning before working….
One of my housemates is into jogging and he took part in a 42km marathon yesterday. I was amazed by his dedication in completing the run. He spent 6 hours to complete the full-marathon. Amazing…!
I would give jogging a try as my daily exercise. The aim is to jog 5 days a week for 40 minutes.
Below are the steps that I have taken to CONVINCE myself to jog every morning…
What kind of beliefs do you have in jogging?
=> In the past, I felt that jogging is a waste of time and it doesn’t create any value to my life.
=> Now, I have to convince myself that in order to have a healthy body, I need to jog. Having an energetic and healthy body, I can do my things more efficiently and effectively.
Set a routine for yourself.
=> Every Monday to Friday, wake up one hour earlier than usual. I used to wake up at 6am everyday. To fit in the jogging schedule, I need to wake up at 5am.
Set a goal for yourself.
=> I plan to take part in a marathon next year.
Share with people about the advantages of jogging in the morning
=> The blood circulation is improved and I feel more energetic throughout the working day.
=> The air is fresher in the morning.
=> While sharing the advantages of jogging, I am reminded that I have to jog everyday.
Find a jogging-buddy
=> Look for someone who stays nearby you and encourage him to jog with you.
=> Both of you will mutually support and remind each other the importance of maintaining healthy lifestyle through jogging.
=> My housemate who has undying passion in jogging is my jogging-buddy.
What if you give excuses to yourself when your alarm clock rings?
=> Remind yourself the advantages of jogging.
=> Remind yourself your goals.
=> Remind yourself that you have shared with a lot of people about the advantages of jogging.
=> Once you have taken your ONE STEP out of your bed, CONGRATULATIONS! You have succeeded fighting your evil mind!
What can you do while jogging?
=> Listen to mp3 player with educational audio program.
=> Relax your shoulders and hands.
=> Train your left and right brain by doing left-right hands exercise.
Are you ready to start your first jog in the morning?
Do you want to jog with me tomorrow morning?
